Welcome to JCList.

Not to take away from any of your enthusiasm, but the METS Charter School has been plagued with problems for a number of years. As a parent, you may want to read the following and ask the administrators of your school if it is in danger of being shut down by the state, or has there been adequate remediation to the problems outlined for a number of years:

You may also want to keep an eye on the streets at dismissal:

And a good metric to follow is the school's NJASK standardized test scores. Take a look at METS 2013 scores just in language arts literacy and math:

6th Grade Language Arts: METS: 58% STATE AVG : 66%
7th Grade Language Arts: METS: 39% STATE AVG : 65%
8th Grade Language Arts: METS: 53% STATE AVG : 82%

How about math:

6th Grade Math: METS: 89% STATE AVG : 79%
7th Grade Math: METS: 35% STATE AVG : 64%
8th Grade Math: METS: 38% STATE AVG : 69%

Every child's experience in school is different. But at the crucial 6th grade level, it's a good time to keep a solid watch on what your child will be exposed to in these important middle school years.

I just registered my 6th grader last week and she started on Friday. I have been so impressed with what I have seen and what my daughter has told me. The math and English classes only have 14 or 16 students with the other classes only having about 18 or 19 students I was so impressed when her teachers called me over the weekend to introduce themselves. Also by entering in the middle school, the students are guaranteed to get in for high school. We couldn't be happier with the switch. The secretary in the office told me they have one or two middle school openings left. I believe they have an open house tonight.

The phone number is 201-526-8500
