Not sure if you are being facetious, or serious. So, I will assume the best and assume you really are asking for an explanation.

GV = Greenville
BL = Bergen Lafayette

It's Greene Street.

My family once had a business there.

As a PH resident, I wish that was true! Among other issues, the produce and other fresh food is limited and not so great. They do have lots of Whole Foods-like options for dry/boxed/canned foods. I'm certainly happy to have the option to shop there when the alternative was only shopright (hell on earth) just a few years back.

You tried to convince your best buddy to move to GV? I wouldn't even suggest that to my worst enemy.

Did you hear that? That was the sound of you and all other GV Haters being irrelevant on this board for another 4 years.. FYI I don't care what you think of me, because it can't be half as bad as what I think of you.

I actually love GV and would love for nothing more than for GV and BL to deal with their crime issues and stop ruining the image of the rest of JC. Until then however, I must tell it like it is - and the truth is GV and BL are the most dangerous parts of JC which should be avoided by mostly anyone with common sense until the police get control of those areas.

I have the lightrail @ my doorstep and it has its pros and cons. It would be easy for us to visit each other with the lightrail but I doubt if they would use it often, they drive pretty much everywhere. They currently live in Hoboken and have never taken the lightrail to visit me, they always drive. His wife the uptown gal :) hates the PATH and takes the ferry.

Definitely the most expensive rental in Jersey City, or tied with the Monaco. If they like 70 Greene they should look at the Monaco, too, before deciding.

I figured I would ask here because when they asked me I told them no way... I am anti high rise, I don't want to live in one or near one. They are looking at a one bedroom with a small dressing room for 2900.00. I thought it was steep but my buddy thought it was Ok since they are paying more in Hoboken for a studio. I will let them know about Monaco. Thanks!

70 Greene has four elevators, not two, though the lines for the elevators can sometimes be long at the very peak times (around 6:00 pm) if one of the elevators is out, which does happen. The market is really excellent, basically a miniature Whole Foods that carries pretty much everything anyone short of a professional chef could want, though the prices are also about on par with Whole Foods. (Also doesn't have a real butcher, though the meat selection is decent, and their fish is pretty minimal--but the light rail/walk to Shoprite isn't bad.) Definitely Paulus Hook has a number of nice restaurants and other basic retail that are within 5 minutes' walk.

Biggest disadvantage is that they still rent out some floors as part of a hotel arrangement, and there's a constant stream of clueless European tourists in and out of the building. Supposedly they're ending the arrangement "soon".

Definitely the most expensive rental in Jersey City, or tied with the Monaco. If they like 70 Greene they should look at the Monaco, too, before deciding.

Also, the lot north of the building is slated to be developed by some Chinese development firm any day now. That could be noisy and unpleasant, but no idea if that's happening in a week, a month, a year or a decade.

They are not interested in NP so we can move on from that. They seem to like Green street and all its amenities including parking for about $800 less than Hoboken. Hopefully it all works out.

I agree, if we were to limit the discussion to the boundries of Exchange place and Newport.

But although 70 Green is in Exchange Place, it is so close to PH and Grove , that I think I'd you'd rather live there if you're looking to go out to eat/drink at.

RE: korean market, i just see it is operated by all koreans that's why i referred to it that way, didnt mean anything by it. But yes it's a regular supermarket not korean food specific. Didnt know people are so sensitive.

I don't know why someone suggested Newport over PH. Newport has very little of interest and is quite soulless.

Stick to PH. The areas immediately to the west and NW have plenty of eating, drinking and other options.

The owners are not Koreans. The Hudson Greene Market are owned by Russians. Some of the workers that are Koreans are from Russia. They speak Russian. They are not the owners.

Agree completely. In fact, although on a smaller scale, that market carries a lot of the same brands Whole Foods offers. The prepared foods are consistently pretty good to good, as well.

Unless he sold it, I think the owner is Russian.

-I think it is crazy to say Newport has a more lively and NYC-like atmosphere than Paulus Hook (or really any part of other downtown neighborhoods). I know 70 Greene is on the edge of Paulus hook, but it is just one block away from a number great restaurants / bars on Washington / Warren Street. That being said, there is no doubt that all of JC is much quieter than any part of Manhattan in the evenings.

You should ask him to look at newport instead, it's more lively and closer to the nyc atmosphere.

Thanks! so there are no elevator issue? I been reading that there is only two elevators that service the entire building, and that sounds horrible...

I suggested GV he was open to a fixer upper she wants a turn key ready. They now live in Hoboken. They just wanted something less expensive with more space and this seem to be the right price for all that is offered. Thanks again!
