Same here, my friend had one pop up on Jefferson Ave last week, right in the middle of the block. It was in front of an empty lot.
I called the number and it was removed the next day.

Most of the bins I've seen have been placed on vacant properties. I called
the phone number on the box because one was placed on a property that I manage.
I was told that the bins would be removed.

Has anyone else been a victim of this?

When I looked the company up, I found this article.

I did some sleuthing and the company that owns these bings is called Viltex USA. They have a very basic website, which says they are a "a for profit company that works hand in hand with local non profit organizations and charities for the purposes of providing help and assistance to those in need". Okay, whatever. Here's the website:

They're based in Newark and list two other corporations as the owners.

Anyway, all I can say is, don't drop anything in the bins. Better off going to Salvation Army and Goodwill.

I haven't seen these, but I do periodically get the "Clothing Drive in your neighborhood!" plastic bag/flyer on my front porch - a JC old-timer told me that they are also associated with a for-profit company and not a charitable organization, so I just say "hey, free trash bag" and go on my merry way.
