Not sure what the methodology is, but it is true that JC lacks "entertainment" and opportunities for leisure, compared to many similarly sized cities. But you can't look at a list of the 100 largest US cities and tell me Jersey City is 95.
Also, holistically speaking, and looking outside of the weird methodologies of some of these lists, living in Jersey City means having 24-7 access, within minutes, to the world's capital of entertainment/dining/nightlife. So, yeah - that means something. There aren't that many of the top 100 cities that are "satellite cities" like Jersey City is. So, a city of 250,000 in Arizona might be the only population center within 200 miles, so it will naturally have more to do because that's "the city" of that area. But yeah - Jersey City needs more fun stuff. More bars, more parks, more live music. Just more...stuff.

I agree. Most of our JC schools don't even have ANY green space dedicated to the school - not even a play yard. I find it hard to beleive that this is even allowed - there should be some regulation that requires at least some outside space for recreation for children at school.
The government of JC doesn't appear to treat this quality of life issue as a priority.

Summer Dawn Hortillosa | The Jersey Journal
Despite Jersey City's burgeoning arts community and rapid growth in recent years, one website says it is one of the worst cities for recreation in the country. WalletHub.com looked at the general financial cost of recreation, park quality and the availability of entertainment and recreational facilities to rank America's best and worst cities for recreation. Weather was also a factor. Out of the 100 largest cities in the United States, Jersey City came in at a very dismal No. 95. Its neighbor, Newark, came in dead last. Jersey City also came in ahead of Charlotte, N.C., Fremont, Calif., Chula Vista, Calif. and Laredo, Tx. For those living in JC, this may come as a surprise with arts, culture and community events almost every day of the week. We have a go-kart racing track, a golf course, an international film festival. Many of our restaurants and shops host concerts and art events. So why did Jersey City rank so low? A look at WalletHub's methodology gives us an idea. More
