Daring armed robbery of shoe store in Journal Square: police

A shoe store in Journal Square in Jersey City was robbed today, police said.

Two men and a woman pulled off a daring daytime armed robbery yesterday of a shoe store in Jersey City's Journal Square, police said.

The trio, all described as between 40 and 50 years old, got away with "multiple" pairs of shoes from the store on Kennedy Boulevard, a police report said.

A store employee told police two men and a woman entered the store together at 10:40 a.m. and the woman asked to see a size 10 shoe, the police report said.

When the employee and the woman went to the back of the store, one of the men joined them and showed the employee a gun in the waistband of his pants, the police report said.

The woman then pushed the store employee to the ground and the other man grabbed multiple pairs of shoes and stuffed them in a large plastic bag, police said, adding that the trio then fled.

The employee did not know how many pairs of shoes were stolen or the monetary value of the loss, police said.
