If you get a New Jersey Craft Beer card, HopsScotch has $1 off all beers, which brings the prices down appropriately. At the Thirsty Quaker, we also have a 5% discount if you have the card. Lots of bars and shops around the state do special things, and for $20 a year it's not a bad deal.

Yes!! Allagash at Hopscotch. I highly recommend real beer lovers hit this up. The only downside is hopscotch is overpriced.

That's a pretty cool idea, especially the oompa band in the gazebo! Maybe in the future we can organize something like that. The brew club does beer festivals and contests from time to time as well, so look out for those.

Hey everyone, there is a bunch of cool beer-related stuff going on in Jersey City over the next couple weeks, some of it involving The Thirsty Quaker, some involving the Jersey City Brew Club. If you know of anything else interesting happening soon, please post it here!

Wednesday, July 17 - Jersey City Brew Club Meeting & Allagash Tap Takeover
JCBC is having its monthly meeting at HopsScotch starting at 7:30pm. Join us for great beer, food, homebrew sharing, and discussion about upcoming beer-related events. HopsScotch is also having an Allagash Tap Takeover this night, with 10 awesome beers from Portland, Maine-based Allagash Brewing.

Sunday, July 20 - 6th Borough Market
Join us at the 6th Borough Market behind City Hall from 11am - 5pm! We'll be joining dozens of food vendors and craft makers for this great market showcasing Jersey City's finest wares. We'll have some local NJ honey, books, and gift cards for sale, all at a discount! Want to save the next time you stop by The Thirsty Quaker? Buy a $20 gift card and get an extra $2 free! Buy a $40 gift card and get an extra $5 free!

Also July 20 - The Spoken Nerd at LITM
LITM is hosting their first ever edition of The Spoken Nerd this Sunday, from 3-6pm, with the topic of "Booze." Nerd out about beer, cocktails, and the history of drink, followed by Burlesque Trivia. The owner of The Thirsty Quaker will give a talk about the Science of Beer, with time for questions. Our portion will start at about 3:30 - don't miss it!

Saturday, July 26 - Jersey City Brew Club Summer Walking Tour
This tour will include 4 stops in Hoboken and Jersey City, with multiple samples of homebrewed beer and snacks at each stop. The ticket also includes a one-way ticket on the Light Rail. If you've wanted to try some homemade beer, or want to introduce a friend to brewing, this is a great opportunity to try some great stuff and visit some home breweries.
Get tickets to the Walking Tour - they sell out fast!

Sunday, August 3 - All-Grain Brewing Class
Interested in taking the next step into brewing? We'll be brewing a Fluffernutter beer during this class, and showing you how to construct a recipe from scratch, using the "all-grain" method, which is the cheapest, more flexible form of brewing. Students also receive a 10% discount on all equipment and ingredient purchases. Stop into The Thirsty Quaker or call for tickets.

And of course, beer tastings every Thursday at The Thirsty Quaker, from 6-8pm! July 17 we'll be showing off Flying Dog, and July 24 we'll have people from Schmaltz over to talk about He'Brew.
