Creator of Fulop's award-winning campaign ad profiled in NY Times
By Patrick Villanova/The Jersey Journal on May 27, 2014 at 10:47 AM The creator of the award-winning political ad that depicted Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop swimming across the Hudson River in frigid temperatures, is a "leading image guru in the lucrative world of political advertising," writes Ashley Parker of The New York Times. Mark Putnam, who was profiled by the newspaper on Sunday, is being tapped by a number of Democratic candidates nationwide looking for a boost in November's midterm elections. After working on Barack Obama's presidential campaigns in 2008 and 2012, Putnam filmed Fulop swimming across the freezing cold river in a 32-second spot called "Hudson" in 2013. At the time, Fulop, a Downtown councilman, was running against incumbent Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy. The commercial won the Pollie Award for best 2013 ad for a Democratic mayoral campaign, given by the American Association of Political Consultants. http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/20 ... aign_ad.html#incart_river http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/26/bus ... cratic-hopefuls.html?_r=1
