Gary Van Miert and Malcolm Marsden - or the Sensational Country Blues Wonders, as they're known to their fans - have been nearly ubiquitous lately. They helped welcome the new eco-friendly goats to the Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery in April, play downtown JC regularly, just performed for the first time in Harlem, and they?ll be returning to the Mojo Lounge in Greenville on Friday, May 9> Van Miert, who plays twangy acoustic guitar and sings, has been a Jersey City resident for 30 years, and met electric guitarist Malcom Marsden at an open mic in town several years ago. ?We started talking and the guy knew who Sister Rosetta Tharpe was, so right away I was impressed,? Van Miert recalled. ?And it turned out we liked a lot of the same music, and he?s a very good player. So we hit it off right away.?
