Jeff Smith in Politico.com,.....

Former Chief of Staff Bridget Anne Kelly, a divorced mother of 4 is unlikely to go to jail to protect her old boss.
She just dumped her lawyer, a longtime Christie ally. UH-OH.

Christie's popularity in wake of bridge scandal plummets in N.J., poll shows

TRENTON ? Gov. Chris Christie's popularity among New Jersey voters has plummeted in the wake of the George Washington Bridge scandal ? especially among Democrats, according to a new poll.

The Rutgers-Eagleton poll, released today, shows 46 percent of voters view the Republican governor favorably, while 43 percent have an unfavorable view two weeks after e-mails surfaced that appear to link a Christie staff member to the bridge controversy.

That's a 19-point drop from the group's last survey, in November, when 65 percent of voters saw Christie favorably just before he was re-elected in a landslide.

The poll also shows Democrats are abandoning their support of Christie, who repeatedly touted a message of bipartisanship on the campaign trail last year and bolstered his re-election bid with the endorsements of more than 60 Democratic officials. While 45 percent of Democratic voters viewed him favorably in November's poll, that number fell to 19 percent in today's survey ? a 26-point decline.

Player in NJ Bridge Scandal
Will Talk for Immunity

By ANGELA DELLI SANTI and
DAVID PORTER
Associated Press
Jan 17, 2014

The former appointee of Gov.
Chris Christie who directed
lane closures that backed up
traffic for hours in one New
Jersey town is reiterating that
he is ready to share more
information if he can be
granted immunity from
prosecution.

Meanwhile, 17 other people
and three organizations are
being issued subpoenas as
lawmakers try to learn exactly
how the September lane
closures on an approach to
the George Washington
Bridge from the community of
Fort Lee happened and why.

David Wildstein, whom
Christie appointed to a
position in the Port Authority
of New York and New Jersey,
has already supplied a
legislative committee with the
most damning documents in
the case so far, including an
email from a Christie aide
saying it was "time for some
traffic problems in Fort Lee," a
sign that the lane-closing plot
was hatched by Christie's
aides as a political vendetta.

Wildstein's lawyer Alan Zegas
told The Associated Press on
Friday that there has not been
any offer of immunity from
the U.S. Attorney's Office,
which is reviewing the matter.
"If he has immunity from the
relevant entities, he'll talk,"
Zegas said.

FUGETABOUTIT!

The more I think about this, the more I think this will help Christie with the Republican nomination - he has demonstrated he isn't afraid of using his elbows and can put conservative ideology above the public interest.

My money is on the right-wingers and Tea-baggers falling all over him for putting the screws to the namby-pamby Democrats who send their kids to school on a bus vs. a limo, commute by car vs. helicopter, were 91 and having a heart attack and - gasp! - expected the state to help them!

It is a shame McGreevey pulled that bonehead move of hiring his lover in a position that the guy was grossly unqualified for. We likely wouldn't be in a position with one of the most corrupt governors NJ has ever seen...

I moved to NJ in 2008, so I don't know the answer to this one but maybe others do - is there something with the way the NJ goverment is structured that gives governors too much influence over certain appointments? More so than other states that are rarely in the news for this sort of b.s.? THAT at least we could change.

When it comes to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie?s (R) bridge scandal, it?s clear the governor wants the public to believe that the misconduct was a rare lapse, completely at odds with the above-board way in which the governor?s team generally operates.

The problem, of course, is that Fort Lee wasn?t the only community targeted for political retribution. Yesterday, Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop (D) produced emails documenting what happened after he failed to endorse Christie?s re-election campaign. As Rachel explained on the show last night, the governor?s team, led by none other than Bridget Kelly, arranged a series of meetings for Fulop to meet with department heads and state agencies to discuss his community?s needs: ?The state commissioner of transportation, the state treasurer, the guy who?s heading up post-Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts for the whole state, the commissioner who handles all local government issues, the head of the economic development authority for the whole state. They?re all going to come to Jersey City to meet with the new mayor.?

That is, right up until the Democratic mayor says he?s not going to endorse the Republican governor?s campaign. Within an hour, agency heads cancel their meetings with Fulop without explanation. Within a few days, literally all of the meetings between Jersey City?s mayor and the state officials ? discussions that had been months in the making, dealing with departments in state government that had nothing to do with the campaign ? were off.

No doubt Chris Christie has all the traits of a SOCIOPATH with a number of CORPORATE SOCIOPATHS working directly for him doing all the dirty work!

This again highlights the need for all prospective and elected public officials to be psychologically tested before taking office or public service position...nothing short of what all emergency services personal and the military are required to do.

Many private corporate organisations are testing their senior and junior executives to ensure the mental health of their decision makers and managers are sound, ethical and bias free.

But another thing I want to point out about this who debacle supposedly set up to make the Fort Lee mayor look bad, it just doesn't make any sense to me and whoever thought they were going to make the mayor look bad is about as idiotic as they come, because:

1. Hundreds of thousands of cars go over the GW Bridge every day - only a fraction of those people live in Fort Lee and could vote for the mayor.

They took away 2 of the 3 lanes reserved for local Ft. Lee traffic. (This actually made it easier for all other traffic.) Think of the right-most lane of the Holland Tunnel tollbooth which is reserved for traffic turning right off of Marin. Those local access lanes were used by people outside of Ft. Lee just as not everyone using the Marin lane is from Jersey City. However, the resulting traffic crippled Ft. Lee alone.

Quote:
2. Even the small fraction of people from Fort Lee who might have been inconvenienced by the traffic jam who bother to vote would be angry at the Port Authority, not the mayor - he has no control over the bridge.

Whoever decided to to create this traffic jam should take new lessons on making politicians look bad, because they obviously didn't learn anything the last time. It all makes no sense.

I don't think they were seeking to make Ft. Lee voters angry at their mayor. I don't think there was any rational purpose to the stunt. Bullies don't need reasons. They just wanted to lash out.

There is another theory out there: The local access lanes run through an area of vacant land that Ft. Lee is developing with two massive ($1 billion) projects. It is Sokolich's core accomplishment. The value of the land is dependent on it's easy access to the bridge. The closures might have been an implicit threat that the lanes could be closed permanently, turning the advantage of easy access to the bridge into the detriment of constant angry traffic running right through the site.
