It is a pretty cool house... just found it on goggle maps. Must have an interesting
history in the neighborhood.

You must not be walking by at the right time. There's a patio out back that's used during the summer and there are holiday decorations on the lamp posts near the driveway.

Curious what includes "signs of life" .... is it sitting on the front steps every evening?

Yeah, it's such an amazing building, and huge for the area, as you mention!

And oh, the walking tour sounds good Wishful, thanks!

I've admired that house myself for a long time - it's a particulary fine example of the Renaissance Revival or Italian Palazzo style, and is pretty grand for the Heights (or, at least this corner - the biggest houses seemingly were all clustered on Sherman Place). I checked the 1926 Plat Map of the Heights, to see if this was perhaps a parsonage to a now gone Church, but nothing seemed like a connection.

I would ask the librarians at the Jersey Room at the JCPL downtown, or get in touch with John Gomez through the JC Landmarks Conservancy. I took his walking tour of Palisade Avenue a few years back, and he was very knowledgeable.

Dr. Franks old house. That window has had a hole in it forever. Summit Ave. side of the house used to be covered in ivy. I believe a husband, wife & one daughter reside there. I would love to see the rooms.

People live there. What else do you want to know?

Knock on the door and say hi?

We've driven and walked past it a zillion times, and always wondered... what's the deal with the awesome building on the north east corner of Bowers and Summit? Anyone know?

We've never seen any signs of life in it, the cheap plastic blinds are always closed, and there's been a hole in a first floor window for years....

Anyone know what the deal is there?
