Public transit services in the Hudson County are hoping to make it easier to get around during the ?first mass transit Super Bowl.?

In expectation of thousands of extra visitors to the area for the Super Bowl, NJ Transit, the Port Authority, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and NY Waterway are making a joint effort in hopes of making travelling as smooth as possible.

?... Mass transit resources in both New York and New Jersey will serve as the safest, easiest and most reliable methods for getting to every destination,? the New York/New Jersey Super Bowl Host Committee said in a statement.

A Regional Transit Diagram, which maps out all networks that link the two states, was also issued by the MTA.

Hudson County is at the epicenter of this dual state interconnectivity. The Port Authority's PATH rail system boasts many accessible points of entry, such as Hoboken, Journal Square and Newport stations, that will transport visitors not only between different sections of the county, but back and forth to parts of New York City as well.

NJ Transit's Hudson-Bergen Light Rail is an effective way to get around the county as well, with three tracks spanning from North Bergen down into Bayonne. The line connects with PATH service into New York at Exchange Place and has a number of connecting bus routes.

The Meadowlands Rail Line, which is only operational during large events, will run game attendees out of Hoboken Terminal directly to the stadium.

Those who prefer ferries to trains or buses can utilize several of NY Waterway's routes out of Weehawken, Hoboken, and Jersey City.

To facilitate travel even more for out-of-towners and those anticipating continuous use of public transportation, several of the transit organizations will be offering special commemorative passes.

NJ Transit's "Super Pass," which will be valid for unlimited travel on all of the group's rail, light rail, bus, and Access Link services from Jan. 27 - Feb. 3, is available for purchase for $50 until Jan. 20 and displays a special collectible image, as well as its own unique QR code and serial number.

NJ Transit spokesperson William J. Smith commented that the motivation behind the all-access card was to ease the tension out-of-towners might feel trying to work out a possibly confusing system.

"We're going to have a lot of people who are visiting the area who have never been here before. Our main goal is to move people quickly and safely through the system," he said.

The MTA and the Port Authority will release special versions of their Metro and PATH Smart Cards, respectively, but neither will offer an unrestricted amount of rides.

Not a typo, the only thing going to the actual station is the stumpy orange thing coming out of Secaucus Junction.

Is this a typo? The Meadowlands Rail Line is on a branch off of the Pascack Valley Line, which runs out of Hoboken. Why would they make people transfer?

HOBOKEN ? Before Super Bowl weekend kicks off, it may get a bit crowded on the train.

NJ Transit is recommending that riders give themselves extra travel time when taking mass transportation in the days leading up to the Feb. 2 game, since Super Bowl patrons may be joining their commute. Nancy Schneider, NJ Transit Spokeswoman, said that NJ Transit is expecting an increase in passengers in the days leading up to and through the Super Bowl.

"Give yourself extra time throughout the week," she said.

NJ Transit is increasing certain rail and bus services in Hoboken to address the expected spike in passengers. Starting Jan. 27, Hudson Bergen Light Rail is adding two extra trips every hour between 2 p.m. and midnight. On the weekend, NJ Transit is upping its usual weekend service by running two-car trains ? instead of one ?and opening up its Hoboken Terminal to Tonnelle Avenue route, which usually only runs during the week, according to Schneider.

From Jan. 29 to the 31, NJ Transit will also be adding extra late morning trips on the Northeast Corridor and Morris & Essex lines to New York, and additional late evening service from New York, according to its website.

Those traveling to the Super Bowl from Hoboken can't take the Meadowlands Rail Line service directly to MetLife Stadium. Instead, riders will have to transfer at Secaucus Junction, according to NJ Transit. Also, no NJ Transit bus services will be traveling directly to the stadium, Schneider said.

Riders should also give themselves extra time on game day, since there will be heightened security screenings for those boarding trains to the stadium from Secaucus.
