I think the mere act of purchasing bitcoin counts as gambling.

Newark, Jersey City, Hoboken among towns most enamored with online gaming at Betfair site

Posted on Thursday, January 16, 2014 1:43 pm
by John Brennan -

Betfair officials have taken a look at who in New Jersey is using their online gaming platform since the entertainment option was legalized in late November.

Newark and Jersey City are among the top half-dozen municipalities participating in the gambling ? no surprise given that they also rank 1-2 in population at about a quarter million residents apiece.

Toms River, which ranks 8th in the state according to the 2010 U.S. census, also is on the list.

The others are Old Bridge in Middlesex County (18th, not sure how they wound up here), Hoboken (34th, with a mere 50,000 people, but tons of young urban professionals with discretionary income), and Egg Harbor (43rd, but don?t forget that it?s in Atlantic County, home of Atlantic City?s casinos).

The peak time of use, naturally is 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., which should relieve some employers who might have thought their employees would be gambling on their computers instead of working.

The most popular games for Betfair players? Blackjack, Monopoly, Crazy Money, Cleopatra, and Roulette. -

That doesn't make it not gambling. And I'm not a poker player (pool's my game), but I thought the real skill was reading the players at the table rather than calculating odds.

ultimate poker has worked for me, but don't bother unless you like a dead site. there's almost no one on here at all. quite frankly, if they hadn't given me some free money, i wouldn't be playing there at all.

keep in mind, you must be playing on a wifi enabled device near other such places so it can 'verify' you're actually here in nj

I am on the Borgata site and have no problem. I've played a zillion hands and find the play to be pretty good. Not like I remember on PartyPoker. I've also made a few bones off the blackjack.

I'm on Verizon FiOS

I'm downtown as well. I tried WSOP and 888, and I thought they were both trash sites. They're both run by the same company, and they have terrible algorithms. The bad beats are endless. Try Party Poker if you want decent play.

Have you looked up your IP on an ip lookup site? If your ISP has their servers outside of NJ the online gambling sites will reject your attempts to login, stating that you can't be located within NJ. What online sites have you been trying to log into? I've had difficulty on a few of them, and success with others.

Has anyone been able to play from Jersey City? I have not as it keeps telling me I am not in New Jersey.
