Yes Sutherland it would be nice we could learn a thing or two from them. Wow as a kid in JC we couldn?t wait for the parades up Journal Square the place was packed you couldn?t even move. Our parents had to put us on their shoulders so we could see. Like we were watching the Electric Light parade in WDW. They were that big of a deal. And don't we all wish we had those people around today with their unique artisan skill sets and inspiration?
This is not a dig but isn?t it ironic that the Columbus Day Parade will take place DT while a parade of 150 cement trucks are also on parade. No not because of the old ?cement shoes? comment. It is because when I was growing up in JC all of my DT Italian friends grand fathers and fathers would do cement work around their houses on weekends. Even if nothing needed fixing they would put on an old suit jacket and have trowel in hand for the work. Hoping to find a small crack or loose brick so they could mix up a fresh batch.
