Shut Up & Laugh is back from summer break.
The September 10th show features Rich Carucci, Jake Shapiro, Sadina Battinos, Nick Leidl, Angel Gonzalez, and Ratnesh Dubey. Ken Schultz is hosting. The event is free, though donations are accepted. An open mike will follow the booked performance, but you must come before 8 p.m. if you want to sign up. Shut Up & Laugh is held the second Tuesday of the month from September through June at Lamp Post Bar & Grill in downtown Jersey City (382 Second Street). Lamp Post serves food until 11 p.m. and runs drink specials all night.

I'm all for (free) comedy shows close to home, but this one is tough. Last time I attended, the manager/owner was in the back of the room trying to encourage us to laugh more when the content was falling flat. Hopefully it was an off-night, but the whole thing felt very awkward.

Help Shut Up & Laugh celebrate its third anniversary Tuesday, June 11th. The show features Andy Breckman and Ken Freedman from Seven Second Delay on WFMU, as well as local comics Paul Goncalves, Alexis Guerreros and Sharon Yamane, and the awesome Boris Khaykin.
Funny attractive person Chrissie Mayr is hosting. The show is free, though donations are accepted. An open mike will follow the booked performance. Come before 8 p.m. if you want to sign up.
