The new ordinance doesn't require that, I've read it in depth for my own building! It's flat out required on buildings of certain sizes whether or not they have car parking.

You also have to prove that the bicycle can replace other modes of transportation.

it doesn't apply to you if you were approved (much less built) before Council adopted the ordinance.

Anyone know about how quickly the city ordinances apply to new buildings? I recently moved into a new building that just finished up in July. However, they don't have any bicycle storage.

It looks like new buildings are required to build bicycle storage according to an ordinance from Dec 2012. Would that apply to my building? Clearly they started construction well before Dec 2012, but they finished after that date.

The ordinance can be found here:

Page 8 shows how much space is required for new buildings.

I hate having to keep a bike outside in the elements. There is not enough room in my apartment for 2 bicycles either. I'm glad they passed that ordinance, just too bad it wasn't a little sooner!
