Two bodies have just been brought out of a Jersey City Heights home where a "suspicious death'' was reported earlier this morning.

Police and representatives of the state Medical Examiner's office have been going in and out of 233-1/2 Palisade Ave. all morning, neighbors say, with one official having come out at one point with blood on his feet.

The bodies are believed to have been in the basement apartment.

According to the building superintendent and other neighbors, the couple in the apartment were a young couple, probably in their mid-20s, who moved in several months ago and fought often.

Superintendent Louis Gonzalez, who lives in the unit next to the couple's, said the couple had been fixing up the apartment but that he'd recently seen the man sleeping outside of the apartment door with his clothes.

Lisa Ross, who lives two houses away, said she had seen the man sleeping outside several times and said he'd once told her that the woman was trying to kick him out.

Gonzalez said he didn't hear anything this morning and was awakened by a representative of the state Medical Examiner's office knocking on his door.

Jersey Journal calls to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office have not yet been returned.

According to radio dispatches, a "suspicious death'' was reported at the address just before 9 a.m.
