I second this. In addition, more fresh food/supermarkets need to be installed in areas of the city lacking these.

I do think this is a great start, and its great that its happening/starting in an under-served area of the city.

If the city is serious about the health and fitness of its residents, the City should work on using their power of eminent domain to acquire some green space for the schools of Jersey City. It is pretty embarrassing that the vast majority of schools here have absolutely NO outside space. Poor kids.

Jersey City signing onto Michelle Obama's 'Let's Move!' campaign

Jersey City is kicking off a new wellness campaign, with fitness nut Mayor Steve Fulop signing the city up for First Lady Michelle Obama?s signature ?Let?s Move!? initiative.

The kick-off begins tomorrow with a Boot Camp program at 6 a.m. at the Mary McLeod Bethune Life Center, 140 Martin Luther King Dr., where residents can meet every Tuesday and Thursday at that time to work out with a trainer and get in shape.
