Jersey City schools chief creating new inner circle at district
By Terrence T. McDonald/The Jersey Journal One year after she was hired to run the state?s second largest public-school district, Schools Superintendent Marcia V. Lyles is ramping up her efforts to make her mark on Jersey City schools, most recently with the hiring of a chief academic officer. The position, a new one for the 29,000-student district, will be filled by Jason Bing Schetelick, at an annual salary of $170,700, thanks to a nearly unanimous vote at the Aug. 27 Board of Education meeting. Schetelick, who resigned abruptly in July as Bloomfield?s schools superintendent, becomes the latest member of Lyles? widening inner circle at the BOE?s central office on West Side Avenue. READ MORE
