Anthony J. Machcinski/The Jersey Journal
A Jersey City man was stabbed late last night after he chased down a man who threw a glass bottle at his car on Thorne Street in Jersey City, police reports state. Around 11:50 p.m., the man told police he was driving east on Thorne Street near Terrace Avenue when he saw a man throw a glass bottle at his car, reports said. The driver then jumped out of his car and chased down the man, reports state. The driver told police that at the intersection, the man took out a black knife. The driver then hit the man in the face with a slapjack -- a black, leather weapon with a heavy weight inside, reports said. The man then stabbed the driver twice, once in the left side of his chest and a second time in his lower torso, reports state. The man fled while the driver retreated to his brother's house on Columbia Avenue, reports said. The driver was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, reports state. The driver handed police the slapjack used in the confrontation to search for DNA, reports said.
