Thanks for the tip - U-Haul topped up my tank for $12 and change. It seemed like it was about to run out, based on the scale it's attached to, but the the guy said there was a lot left.

Home Depot by the Holland Tunnel does not sell propane.

The U-Haul place by Tonnele circle will refill your propane tank for just the cost of the propane. The gas stations by the Holland tunnel will only exchange your empty tank for a new, full one for $40.

Try the EZ Gas station on Tonnele, the were cheaper than Gary's and much faster.
