A Jersey City man was charged last week with impersonating a police officer in order to lure an 11-year-old boy into the man?s home, according to criminal complaints. Leon Andrews, 42, of Jersey City, is accused of calling out to the boy, who lives across the street, and telling him he was a police officer, the complaints say. Andrews then asked the boy to come into his Boyd Avenue house, according to the complaints. The boy heard Andrews calling, didn?t comply and instead told his father, who then called Jersey City police to report Andrews, according to Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Debra Simon. Andrews, charged with impersonating a cop and luring, appeared before Judge Margaret Marley at Central Judicial Processing court via videolink from Hudson County jail on Tuesday. After being told of the charges he faces, Andrews began gasping for breath and soon required medical attention. Andrews? bail has not been determined yet.
