It's the building that's for sale, not the restaurant, though I assume the new owner will take over the business. (I believe the current owner of the restaurant is the owner of the building, too.)

I was there last Saturday night (soft opening)... the food/service is great and the owner/management team are very accommodating to anything I have ever asked for... my filet mignon was high quality cut of meat that was cooked perfectly... I spent $175 (2 people) at a restaurant owned an Iron Chef last night in NYC and judging the overall meal/price/service, I would "chop" that place. Edwards is a great neighborhood treat, glad they are back online.

Finally they re-opened. The place looks great and the food and service have been great. Glad that Dan spent the time and effort to come back.

Glad to see a post about this place. Went Saturday w/ my wife and had the porterhouse for two on the Hudson Rest. Week Menu. It was cooked to perfection, and reasonably priced. Came w/ 2 apps, 2 salads, and 2 desserts. Great service, and great steak -

I've had great meals at Edward's and I would certainly say that this matches any upscale steakhouse I've been lucky enough to eat at (like a poster earlier, a fair number thanks to work).

I love Edward's for both the food and the atmosphere. The downstairs bar area is so comfortable, you can wear a suit or jeans and feel at home. There's nothing pretentious at all.

As great as the steaks are, I actually love their menu items as much or more. The massive pork chop is fantastic, as was their osso bucco dish that I think unfortunately has come off the menu. If the sticker shock of a $40 steak and then the cost of all the a la cart sides is too much, try some of the full meals, you won't be disappointed.

On the other hand, I love the fact I can have friends up and just say screw it, go nuts with bottles of wine, appetizers, steaks, and make a big night of it, then stumble home 2 blocks. Having the diversity of food and drink options in this part of JC is absolutely fantastic -- whether Edwards, Taqueria, Golden Cicada, or any of the stuff up on Grove really makes it a good place to live for someone who loves to eat like me.

no major issue with the food, but the overall quality did not justify cost.

not comparable to steakhouses in NYC that cost as much, imo.

go there as much as I can. I get to go to NYC steakhouses often through work dinners and I believe its very comparable in overall quality for the most part...yet, I've never felt rushed and the environment is not as hectic as I often experience at the more popular NYC steak spots.

Been there about a dozen times over the years and I think I've had one average meal and the rest of the been great. Defnitely appreciate the personalized service.

I'm with Lefty. We've been there maybe 4 times and it was great once, pretty good once and so-so the other times. Too expensive for me to roll the dice on whether I'll have a great meal or mediocre.

After seeing Ox close its door, I've decided to try my best to support good restaurant in beloved JC if I can help it. It's too sad to let another wonderful restaurant go...

Last night, four of us were out and about in downtown and stumbled upon Edward's Steak House. It looked cute enough, a discreet townhouse turned into a two story restaurant, so we decided to give it a try.

The price was bit high, but it was a steak house so that was understandable. We sat around a nice round table, the staffs were very professional and knowledgeable, but the best part, it was one of the best steaks we had ever had!

The proportions were generous so we ended up splitting the rib eye steak, and it literally melted in the mouth. Good seafood as well. At the end, the bill although not cheap was very reasonable for the quality of the food we got.

We were so pleasantly surprised and will definitely go back. It was very well decorated too. It would be a great place to bring a date or parents.

This will definitely go on our top restaurant list. Apparently there is live jazz music playing on couple of days on the weekdays on downstairs bar. Will definitely have to check that out.

Cheers.
