My buddy actually spoke to someone working on the place, and they mentioned it was going to be a "burger+bar/event space on weekends" place.

That is a prime corner. I hope they have a creative idea that will work. It'd be cool to have a nice bar on that corner with big windows that open up.

Yes. Two times. We need a good, classic diner, with decent coffee and a 25 page menu.

There is a new diner style place in JC.... the old Pink Flamingo (Dirty Bird) is back... New name / owner but the food is great. open late hours.

Oh awesome, they kept it a diner(ish)? Word on these pages was it had plans to go fancy(esque).

The new City Diner is excellent, but not exactly your typical NJ diner. It is a bit higher end. I wouldn't call it fancy. Just modern.

In general, I prefer sticking hot pokers in my eyes than making my way up to Edgewater. There must be powerful tax incentives to build massive amounts of shopping in god forsaken places like Edgewater and Tonnelle in N Bergen.

There was a "Downtown needs a ...." thread somewhere. But if this is turning into one, I'll put it out that we need a west coast style cheap burrito bar, the kind that's like a Subway shop for burritos. You stand at the counter and say what kind of tortilla, which of 5 kinds of meats and vegetarian fillers, and what of the many toppings and sauces you would like. There's a chain called Baja Fresh that's similar, but my fave is a small chain in Oregon called Senor Sams. Here's their menu. http://senorsams.com/menu/

Future makes a decent burrito for a chinese takeout, but this would be better.

I believe one is coming to the remodeled space on Erie Street.

They are opening a Manhattan Bagel in Bayonne on 33rd...for those who care. Never tried their bagels.

Sorry this place blows, I am not a fan. Cannot compete with Wonder Bagel.

Well, like I said, not for everyone. I'm low rent. They could sell Lender's Bagels (the current, vastly inferior post-murray incarnation) and I'd be ok.

Well their food was OK but I agree, too damned expensive. Any number of possibilities for this prime "restaurant row" space, but please, no more pizza and wings establishments. (Same goes for nail salons and dry cleaners). However, it might be nice for another bagel/breakfast joint to open up, I don't think the 15 person lines for giant bread-y bagels at WonderBagel are merited. Just a suggestion.

The walls are papered over already, I wonder if something else is coming in right away, or if it's just for demo.
