I like sax guy.
I also like bagpipe guy.
And I miss recorder guy.

So what if the quality varies, it's nice to have some background music.

anyone heard the a capella quartet that gets on the PATH at Grove Street some mornings? they're really good. need to update their repertoire, though. there's only so much Under The Boardwalk a body can take.

I'm not sure what the sax guy has to do with beggars. He's playing for the money, which is qualitatively difference from sitting around begging. It doesn't seem to me that he's trying to fool anyone into thinking he's destitute, he's just playing music for money.

I live across the street from where bagpipe guys plays. I can firmly say that he's improving. Keep practicing, guy! And thanks for bringing the sounds of the highlands to DTJC.

I love the saxaphoneplayer near Sawadee. His playing there is asign of spring/summer in JC. His playing is so melancholy and evocative. I miss it when he's not there. I think he is a JC icon.

Can someone PM me immediately if they see the saxophone guy? I'll walk over to him and give him some money and also a note of appreciation summarizing what we've been talking about here.

His saxophone playing is definitely a positive part of the community.

Support the artist?! its just some guy with a sax on the street! How about going to where actually musicians play in a venue?! oh wait Jersey City has almost none of those. Why not go down to NJCU and catch out their Jazz program? Some guy noodling on the street is not a musician.

Bagpipe guy -- not so much. It's like there's a funeral every day. Plus, he keeps messing up, so it's irritating.

If you see this, Mr. Bagpipe Guy, please stop. Or take up the saxophone.

Your neighbor,
Parker

I see / hear saxophone guy occasionally down in Grove Plaza on weekday mornings. Such a great soundtrack for my commute, but I do miss his evening streetlight serenades. Like coming home to a Raymond Chandler novel.

Exactly! He used to play in the late afternoon/early evenings when I'd hear him. I used to always think, "this is too good to be true for it to last forever. He'll stop eventually." Well, that day has come I guess, and he's been reincarnated as the bagpipe guy. (sad face)

Sax man was out playing on Newark ave just past roman nose last evening!

So we change it up every now and then. Throw in some Boston, Kansas, Led Zepplin, Journey and we are good to go.

I love ACDC, but that would get tiring, too, eventually. I loved the saxophone because it was like ambient noise. Chill and just a step above the sounds of birds.
