I've eaten in Mantra a couple times - very good. Ordered takeout a couple weeks ago (a Wed. night around 8, nothing going on). Never again. They seemed opposed to delivering, told me it would be an hour (it was 20 minutes and yet the food was cold and indelible.) I like the restaurant and will continue to go but will never order delivery from them again.

I agree with MND, last night was a busy night. I had a reservation for 8 last night in NYC and did not get seated until 9:15. I always order from Canteen, and visit them a few times a month. The best Indian in all of JC.

Valentines Day is one of the busiest evenings of the year even for take out or delivery.

I've got to throw up some feedback on Mantra Indian (on Washington St across from the post office). I've eaten there a few times and the food is very decent but very slow service.
Last night I ordered delivery. They told me 25 minutes to an hour (which is already a large window). Food came an hour and 45 minutes later! No apology or anything. The food was very good (and hot, which indicates it really took that long to make), but is it normal to wait this long for Indian? I haven't been a big fan of Amiya, so I don't know what other options exist for Paulus Hook/Downtown. We used to order from a place called Canteen which took forever to deliver as well, but we chalked this up to them being in Journal Square.
