HOBOKEN -- A 43-year-old Hoboken man was pistol-whipped and mowed down by a car after a drug deal went bad in Jersey City early Saturday, morning police reports said.
Police were called to Jersey Avenue and 16th Street at 3:07 a.m. on the report of someone lying in the street bleeding, reports said.

They found the victim bleeding from his face and complaining that his leg was broken, reports said. Lying next to him on the street was a .22-caliber revolver with a wooden handle.

The victim was taken to Jersey City Medical Center where he was treated for a broken left leg and minor cuts to the face.

The man said he was in Holland Gardens public housing to buy cocaine when th drug dealer pulled out a handgun and began hitting him across the face, reports said.

The man told police he grabbed the gun from the drug dealer during the struggle, and fled on foot to 16th Street and Jersey Avenue. But the drug dealer chased him in his BMW and ran over his leg, the Hoboken man said, according to reports said.

When he was struck by the vehicle, the gun fell from his hand, he told cops.

The Police Department Emergency Services Unit responded to the scene and removed the gun, which had four spent shells and two live rounds , reports said.
