If there is one in town is it possible they'd pick it up and return it? Would getting it repaired cost me a lot of money?

If no luck, go for a new one. You will get an updated model and if you do you search well you can get one in the 500.00 range. Feb. is the best month for TV sales. Depending on what's wrong with the TV it may cost $$$$ to fix and just not worth it. Hope the second link helps....

I would call the consumer affairs dept (info in 2nd link) it's worth a shot.

Sorry to hear about your TV. Similar thing happened to me, but my TV was 5.5 years old when it croaked, and I had a 5-year Mack warranty. :(
They must engineer these things to fail at around 5 years. Anyway, Pinky's right - right now you can get a nice 50-in for about $500-700. Unless you had a Pioneer Kuro plasma, the picture quality will be better, too.
