A 45-year-old Jersey City man was arrested just after noon yesterday after police watched him walk from door to door attempting to break in, reports said.

Enrique Colon of Corbin Avenue was seen walking on Tonnelle Avenue, ringing doorbells and then walking away. One resident that answered the door told police that "he never met him," reports said.

Colon continued to walk on St. Pauls Avenue, Palisades Avenue, and Franklin Street entering and exiting apartment buildings minutes later, reports said.

When police stopped Colon, he denied being at any of the addresses and during a safety pat-down, they recovered a small pry bar, flashlight and screwdriver, reports said.

The officers went back to one of the Palisade Avenue homes and saw "fresh double teeth prymarks" on the door matching the pry bar found on Colon, reports said.

The officers arrested Colon and while interviewing him he told police he has a "bad heroin habit (and) was looking to score" and he admitted to trying to get into four different addresses, reports said.

He told police he couldn't get into any of the apartments because of tenants walking around the hallways, reports said.

Police charged him with burglary and possession of burglary tools and also found he had three outstanding warrants from Jersey City and North Bergen, reports said.
