And literally just after I typed that, I got an email in my inbox saying my ballot request was received. Anyone who thinks they are having trouble voting, this mail-in thing is worth a try.

For the first time since I was eligible to vote I will not be able to vote.

After the chaos I had to go through just to get to work today and STILL WAS NOT ABLE TO MAKE IT TO WORK, I will not kill myself to come back to JC and go to any polling location in Paulus Hook only to let me know my name is NOT IN THIS LOCATION. My work is more important to me. I need to get paid. Stinking politics on both parties has not helped me in 3 1/2 yrs!

So for those who can vote, good. I just hope life will be a bit easier for the working disappearing middle class after this.

FYI: emailing or faxing will not do justice to apply to vote. This day has been so stressful and wasteful as it is.

I live on Pacific Ave. I texted someone in my building this morning who said we still didn't have power. Even if it comes back I just got to my hotel last night, I work in manhattan anyway and I don't have a car so I don't want to trek all the way back there...I would if I had to but I just filled out the ballot by mail application for hudson county, we'll see how that goes.

I live in Bergen Lafayette, and since we've been a week without power I got put up in a hotel in manhattan near where I work as of yesterday. As I was rejoicing, (light! Power! Wifi!), I then sullenly realized that I will have to trek back to BL tomorrow to go vote. And that there still is no power in BL. Are the path trains going to be running, you think? I have no car so I rode my bike to the ferry in hoboken yesterday and it was a bit of a harrowing ordeal. Sadly I may have to take off work tomorrow to go do this. I wish you could vote where you work instead of where you live or the elections could be on Saturday. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Did anyone received the Election Ballot Pamphlet by mail yet? I haven't and Tues is the election. I moved to a different zip code since the last Presidential Election, could that be why I did not get the election ballot in the mail? But I've moved from Hoboken to JC and I received the Sample Election Ballot Pamphlet in the last presidential election.

I guess for the first time , I won't be able to vote.

Perhaps, I voiced my opinion to the powers at be about illegal immigration that is why I did not received my Sample Election Ballot Pamphlet and where to go to vote. I've been deprived to vote. Isn't this against Federal Law?

Don't worry, not receiving the pamphlet has nothing to do with your privilege to vote. Most mail has been EXTREMELY backed up since the hurricane. (Did you notice that they were even delivering today, Sunday, to get caught up!?) Just go to your normal polling place. There is no conspiracy about depriving your vote based on your political views - we've had a natural disaster, things are just mucked up. If you can't go to your normal polling place, vote by email (see other posts which outline this procedure) or go to the Clerk's office tomorrow.

Text "Where" to 877877. It will reply asking for your address. Enter your address and it should give you your polling place. I think the papers today said there were some glitches, but that they would be corrected by Monday morning.

I didn't receive my Sample election ballot pamphlet in the mail either. I'm still going to vote.

Regardless of whether or not there is power - you go to your usual polling location to vote unless you have voted early/by mail. If there is no power and other arrangements haven't been made for machines you will vote via a paper ballot.

Unfortunately, I have no way of getting there. I'm running out of cash - cabs not only jacked up the price they only accept cash. No buses go there. The State of NJ won't allow me to vote. They're making it hard for me to do so. I have to get back to work. Already missed 1 week. They won't allow me to take time off for this. And by the time I get off from work and the hassle commute i have to face the place is closed.

Just announced that you can vote by email:

"According to a new directive ordered by the State of NJ, if you have been displaced by Hurricane Sandy and can not return home to vote at your polling location on Election Day, and can not appear at the County Clerk?s Office by 3 p.m. Monday, November 5th to apply for a Mail-in Ballot you may do the following in order to vote in the General Election:

You can vote by e-mail ballot the same way military and overseas applicants do. Simply download a Mail-in Ballot Application: Mail-in Ballot Application / Solicitud de Voto Por Correo, complete the application and return the application to us via fax (201-369-3478) or e-mail (countyclerk@hcnj.us or hrosario@hcnj.us ). Please include a notation in your e-mail or on your faxed application that you have been displaced by the hurricane and are not able to make it to our office or your polling place before election day."
