A Jersey City woman who suffered five life-threatening stab wounds said her boyfriend attacked her and she did not call police because she feared he would kill her, officials said today.
The 32-year-old Summit Avenue woman received no medical attention until 24 hours after the assault she said occurred while watching the "True Blood" vampire series on HBO Sunday night, a police report said. Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Troy Holston, 42, of New York City, on the charge of aggravated assault and he has not yet been found, a report said. It wasn't until last night that police were called to the Heights home and through a window they saw the victim lying in bed with a wine bottle beside her, a report said. Only when police were about to climb through a window did she rouse, a report said. The officers found the she had multiple "stabs/cuts"on her back and bandaged cuts on her wrist and leg, a report said. There was extensive damage in the bedroom, broken glass and bloody sheets, a report said. She said she and Holston where arguing and when she tried to leave he cut her back and leg with a Bowie knife, a report said. She said he then tried to cut her face but she blocked the blade and suffered the deep cut to her wrist, a report said. The ex-sister-in-law said she visited the victim earlier yesterday and tried to call police, but the victim would not let her, saying she feared Holston "would kill her," a report said. She said she bandaged the victim and cleaned up the blood in the apartment. Fearing Holston would return, they hid his Bowie knife, dagger, spikes, trident and a hatchet with four blades under a mattress, a report said. The ex-sister-in-law called police when she left the victim's home and police found her crying outside the building, a report said. The victim refused medical attention but officers convinced her it was necessary and she was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center, a report said. After being treated the victim was taken to the police station, but she said she was drowsy and incoherent due to medication given her at the hospital, a report said. She then became "irate and stormed out," a report said, adding that police issued a temporary restraining order barring Holston from contacting the victim. Anyone with information on Holston's whereabouts is asked to call the Jersey City police tip line at (201) 547-JAIL.JJ
