Too late now but next year I would bike down to the 11th St. pier on the Hudson in Hoboken. The view was terrific !

Blame NYC officials. They don't want crowds downtown on their side of the river.

P.S. Shouldn't you be hitting the road now to pick up your son at JFK?

And yeah, whether they're in LSP or up by Hoboken, biking is the way to go. Photobucket

Using a bicycle would have been the more practical and easy way to go, at least it was for me.

I go every year by bike, and except for having to get off and walk through a couple of pedestrian bottlenecks, it's a breeze.

Jersey City will not be sponsoring Fourth of July activities in Liberty State Park this year, officials said yesterday.
The Macy's fireworks display on the Hudson River between 18th and 43rd streets in New York City will be from 9:20 p.m. to 9:50 p.m. across the river from Weehawken and northern Hoboken, officials said.
Jersey City officials said they do not expect Jersey City's Downtown/waterfront areas will be ideal for viewing the fireworks and may officer only limited and obstructed views.

I would not want to go to Hoboken for the fireworks.....that city especially the waterfront is literally falling into the bay. Our very own Venice.

Hoboken waterfront if there will be barges in the Hudson, JC is too far south for a good view.
