Try planting poison ivy to teach them a lesson.
Hey, it could work.

Perhaps if the heading is changed it can help alert more JClisters to the fact it's thievin' season for planters again. I have all mine chained down. Looks hilarious but hopefully deters thieves. Take a walk around the 'hood - a friend did that several years ago and found all her planters at the front of someone else's brownstone.

All of my flower pots are chained to the railing. It looks like a leafy prison work gang on my stoop, but whoever helped themselves to all of last year's pots left me with no choice. And no flowers. Bastards.

The truth is I really like it here and despite the negatives I'll take living in JC over a slow death in the burbs :)

I hope you reported the theft. Just bringing it to their attention is worth it.

I do think....wording the post "Animals Live Here" is a bit much. Dehumanizing someone or groups can't really lead to anything positive.

Yes, who ever took it is wrong and hopefully they will be caught or punished.....or stop doing what is clearly wrong.

I had to lag bolt my wooden flower planters to the sidewalk to keep them from being overturned. It's a battle. I've often seen trees and shrubs in urns and planters with chains and padlocks. And see the thread about the crazy lady who steals flowers in HP.

Suggestion-before you put dirt in your urns, weight it down first with broken bricks or gravel. The drainage is good for your plants and the thiefs might think overwise due to the added weight.

Woke up this am to find somebody really liked my urns and pots of flowers and decided to hijack them the middle of the night. Amazing since the urns weighed about 40 pounds each. These are the days when I hate living in this city...
