Why doesn't the BOE move the adult ed/alternative school programs from Bright St. (old #3 bldg.) to Wilkinson and put Infinity downtown? Rumor has it that there are hardly any students in the alternative program house in that building. Would make more sense to use the $400,000 to make physical improvements to the old #3.

Exactly, its a great place for the school and perhaps the families to move here.

Funny, no one is worried about the kids safety that already attend the school on Wilkinson Ave. If it is so unsafe why not just close the school down.

Hey Mr. Christodoulakis, what's wrong with Wilkinson Avenue?
There's plenty of nice people out there. Many conducting business on the corners. Many card and dice games to kill time before and after ur daughter goes to class.
Who knows, maybe your daughter might find a nice boyfriend on Wilkinson Avenue. :)

Parents of students at Infinity Institute, a Jersey City public school for gifted middle- and high-school students, are angry the school district is considering moving the students from the former CREATE Charter School facility to School 41.

The district says no decision has been made, but the possible move is ?under review,? district spokeswoman Paula Christen said. The district pays $400,000 annually to lease space from the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark for the building at Lembeck Avenue and Old Bergen Road, Christen said.

Parents who spoke to The Jersey Journal say their issue is the safety of their children. Anna Christodoulakis, whose 15-year-old daughter is an Infinity sophomore, said the neighborhood surrounding School 41 is not safe.

?I?m very upset. I don?t want my daughter on Wilkinson Avenue,? said Christodoulakis.

Infinity opened in September 2010, catering to students with good attendance and good grades. The school is now home to 118 students in grades 7 through 10 who have to apply and take entrance exams before being accepted.

News of the possible move to School 41 started circulating among parents in recent weeks, according to Vanessa Smart, vice president of the school?s parent council. Smart, whose 15-year-old daughter is an Infinity sophomore, dubbed the proposal to move Infinity ?a scandal.?

?It?s an outrage what they?re putting us through,? she said.

?I would fight every politician I can to make sure we stay where we at.?

Smart said she spoke to a school official who said the school?s attendance isn?t high enough to justify an entire building.
