I'm thrilled that I found Martin from Legends at his new salon on Washington Avenue. He is definitely one of the best stylists that I have ever gone to. His cuts are great. He has done low lights on my hair as well as the Coppola Smoothing Treatment and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Close! My name does start with an "M" but it's not Martin. :( I hope your line of work doesn't rely on instinct in any way! I'm sorry my first post didn't live up to your standards; Perhaps I'll create a new handle and try again? Any guidelines you could send my way would be helpful and appreciated! Boy, I'd hate to screw this up again! (I assume talking about any local business that you don't feel 'evangelical' about would be a first post faux pas - though I did see a bit of frustration in your Zip Car post. I bet the rules have changed since then though - lol!)

P.S. I don't think I 'trashed' legends. In fact I thought they were a decent salon. I would just prefer to follow Martin if he is still local.

Cheers!

Not only am I curious about what happened, I really want to know where Martin went! Any connection to the new hair salon on Washington in Paulus Hook?

Looks like Martin not only IS connected to "that new hair salon on Washington" - well whaddaya know - but is also a new member of JClist. welcome, Martin! and congrats on wasting no time before subtly trashing your former salon.

I also went to Martin at Legends and found out last week he left - I tried a new stylist at Legends and she was OK but not as good as Martin; the owner called me at home a few hours after I had my appointment and asked if I was pleased with the service - she told me that Martin left to start his own business but obviously didn't give any details - she's very scared of losing business.

Martin is now at Dazzling, 211 Washington ST., JC. 201.763.6643

One year she called up Maria Dulay and nastily accused her of stealing one of her hairstylists which was not true.

My stylist changed salons a couple of times before she set up her own shop. The way I understand it, a stylist's biggest asset is his/her list of regular clients. Obviously, the better the stylist, the longer the client list. The list becomes a tug-of-war between the salon and the stylist if the stylist chooses to leave. However, most stylists are smart and keep a list of their clients' contact details at home and will discreetly let their clients know if they change salons. If you really like the stylist, of course, you'll follow them to the new salon. The "property" thing sounds like a BS attempt by the salon to hang onto Martin's clients. Regardless, the choice is yours - not the salon's - where you get your hair done.
