There was another accident on this corner yesterday around 7 pm. One car was pretty severely damaged.

Yep, that was the other accident, the horn on the van just wouldn't stop going. Big mess.

And, oddly, tonight I was driving south on Coles, approached that intersection at 20 mph (thinking all the time about those accidents) and what do you know? I almost got T-boned by a black Range Rover running the stop sign! Farking nuts.

there should definitely be stop signs at monmouth & 10th, coles & 10th, jersey & 10th, AND manila & 10th. of course a stop sign doesn't necessarily mean a car will actually stop. i wouldn't be opposed to speed bumps being placed near those intersections to slow down speeding cars.

+1 to having more 4-way stop signs on 10th!

10th street is a whole clusterf@@k that needs a rethink.

Biggest root cause is the Hoboken rats using Cole and Monmouth as rat runs between the Turnpike at Columbus and Hoboken to avoid tailbacks at the Holland tunnel. But added to that ...there's no reason to the cross-street direction on Monmouth & 10 and Jersey & 10th - which makes 10th really confusing to drive along. Plus Coles itself north of 10th is a speeder's paradise given the vacant business district.

I'd bet most people travelling south on Coles are averaging 40+mph, most people travelling East and West on 10th and Coles have really no advanced clue which way to look given Monmouth and Jersey are confusing junctions. Recipe for an accident.

I live on 9th St. I avoid 10th St like the plague for those reasons.

The car hit the fence, the fence fell down and became a ramp, and the car wound up on top of one of the cars in the lot. It was quite the scene.

Second bad accident that corner this week. Something should be done. . . .

I heard the crash around 8ish this morning. A woman driving on Coles in the attempt to avoid an accident with another car heading on 10th (driver went thru Stop sign) jumped the curb, hit fence and apparently partially landed on parked car in the gated parking. By the time I left for work (I live in the building with gated parking), the car had been removed. Another car was damaged b/c the gate fell on the car. what a mess!

Not sure if the woman is ok. it was very loud and I couldn't see clearly from my window when it happened.

Be careful at that intersection.
