I watched in Hoboken and the view was good. Hopefully next year I can get a better view from the Heights or Weehawken but I enjoyed Hoboken since we could eat/drink in the restos before the big event.

I don't think JC should waste money on fireworks when the Macy's fireworks are free and better.

I watched the fireworks in front of the Hyatt on the waterfront. I was on street level with a few hundred other people. The view was perfectly fine.

Had a fabulous view this year from a rooftop in downtown JC.

So that begs the question, why have the Liberty State Park Fireworks been a no-go for the last two years? We have money for all the parades and ethnic festivals, but we don't celebrate Independence Day anymore?

I saw a police sign on Marin blvd saying "Fireworks cannot be viewed from Jersey City Water Front. Please make ALT plan."
Well said.

Your television,

JC is too far south for a good view, you have to walk up into Hoboken to see anything

It's a bit further away, but I've viewed the fireworks by the light rail elevator at Congress Street and Paterson Plank Rd in the Heights. Plenty of families in the neighborhood, although it's not the safest with a few cars still passing through. The cops do block the roads around the area.

Any children friendly locations to watch the fireworks from NJ?

Is Hoboken the only viable choice to catch them?

what about Weehawken?

I agree that the north end of Newport is the best place to see them from JC but its still not a good place to see fireworks. I tried it last year and was disappointed that i didnt make better plans. From that location its hard to see much of the action and there is no "BOOM" factor. They are so far away that the little bang you can here comes so long after. This is just my opinion and I am one who needs to hear them as well as see them to enjoy them.

In Jersey City the North end of Newport is optimal, near the new walkway connecting Newport to Hoboken. Or if you are brave, go to Hoboken waterfront anywhere along Sinatra Drive.

4th of July fireworks to be on Hudson River

Monday, May 16, 2011

For the third year in a row, the best views of the Macy's Independence Day fireworks will be from the Hudson County waterfront. Macy's has announced the site of the fireworks will be from the Hudson and not the East River.

"Macy's 35th annual fireworks display will once again dazzle millions of New Yorkers and a national television audience like never before, as a kaleidoscope of brilliant colors and jaw-dropping effects stretch for two miles across the Hudson River," said Amy Kule, executive producer of Macy's 4th of July Fireworks.

"Building on 34 years of success, we will ignite the skies of New York City with the nation's largest fireworks display celebrating Independence Day, as well as the 125th Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty."

Viewing information and other spectator tips will be available as of June 2011 at www.macys.com/fireworks or by calling the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Hotline at (212) 494-4495.
