I know music videos aren't movies however the music video for the song The World I Know by Collective Soul seems to have filmed some shots in front of the old Flamingo Diner at the corner of Greene St. and Montgomery St. and also in front of the Colgate clock.

The last scene in "Sid and Nancy" (1986) has Gary Oldman getting a
slice of pizza and rapping with some kids on the waterfront at
Washington Street. I'm amazed every time I see it to see how
far this city has come back.

Our indie action movie, shot in Jersey City by Jersey City residents is out today. We will be posting on our website pearlfilm.com all of the places to get it but the easiest and most popular are below...
We made this movie while working full-time jobs with the help of some very talented friends. You'll recognize many locations (Bouquets & Baskets, Canco Lofts, penthouse of Hamilton Square, creepy abandoned places where Jersey Ave dead ends into LSP, LSP....).
We didn't crowdfund because instead we wanted people to just rent/buy and enjoy the finished product. We hope you will check it out and enjoy it. Thanks, The PattonsResized Image

Although listed in post #56, perhaps the one movie shot almost exclusively in Jersey City and not discussed in this thread is the 2004 film On The Outs.

Some silent movies were shot in JC, they used Curry Woods when it was really woods. I cannot recall the exact titles but I do remember reading about this.

The original Annie had filming in Kearny. I can't recall exactly, but I believe the film claimed that was part of NYC as well.

Looks like Annie (2014) could be added to the list in post #56.

My personal favorite for the interior scene at the tragically gutted Canton Casino. Near the beginning of the film, with Ru Paul.

Thanks Neverleft! Now if you would just add the location to all the crime thread titles -- and not just the location for the ones Downtown -- I would be very happy!

So where is that OCD person's running list of all the titles -- for us lazy folks to use with Netflix, Amazon or Youtube....

When I lived on 8th street I was mailed a flier asking if I'd give permission to use my apartment for filming of a movie (lived in one of the old "brownstones"). I figured it to be a scam, but it turned out it was for Cadillac Records. Looks as though they ended up filming in Newark.

There were scenes from Cadillac Records filmed in Jersey City because I remember when they were filming at the school across the street from St. Paul's Church on the corner of Greenville Ave. and Old Bergen Road. I remember seeing Mos Def's trailer set up there.

When I lived on 8th street I was mailed a flier asking if I'd give permission to use my apartment for filming of a movie (lived in one of the old "brownstones"). I figured it to be a scam, but it turned out it was for Cadillac Records. Looks as though they ended up filming in Newark.

I just watched a classic The Mating Season on Netflix last night, I don't think it was filmed here; but the leading character in the film is living in Jersey City 1951. Resized Image

Her character owns a hamburger stand somewhere in JC.

Chappelle Show, "The Mad Real World" episode was shot in the building on the corner of Webster and Hutton. You can see shots of the exterior of the building throughout the episode.

Shot in Jersey City.

Shot all over JC. Not a flattering portrayal of the JCPD.

All the interrogation scenes were shot at the East District Station on 7th Street for this one.

Let?s add MTV's Joww and Snookie Show to the list .

The horror, the horror.

(good thing there we no whiners when JC was used for past productions. We would have missed out on a lot of good entertainment. Could you imagine a world without this 2009 classic?. Nipple Nazis)

Yeah they were filming all over NJ that day and the Iron Monkey was the last stop. I saw them play at Maxwell's last year and they were really great.

oh cool that was them? I was walking back from the Path at night and heard music playing and saw a band playing on top of the iron monkey. I'll be seeing them opening up for the Pogues soon.

It's worth mentioning that the NJ band Titus Andronicus just filmed a music video in JC on February 20th, directed by WFMU DJ Tom Scharpling. The shoot was on the roof of the Iron Monkey, which collapsed under the power of the rawk weight of the extras.

Let?s add this to the long list?..

The Strokes film music video for new single at Loews Theater in Jersey City

Published: Monday, February 21, 2011, 11:05 AM Updated: Monday, February 21, 2011, 11:42 AM
By The Jersey Journal

The Strokes, a critically-acclaimed band from New York City, shot a music video for their latest single at The Landmark Loews Jersey Theatre in Jersey City on Wednesday, as reported by The Jersey Journal.

Theater director Colin Egan said that the band filmed scenes for the video from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Egan said the band chose the movie palace because of its ornate decorations and that the theater has gained a reputation in the entertainment industry for being a great shooting location.

At some point, word got out that the rock band was in Jersey City and fans crowded outside the theater. As band members left the theater, they graciously posed for pictures and signed autographs, Egan said.

The Strokes' single "Under Cover of Darkness" was released Feb. 9 and will be on their new album, "Angles," which will be released March 22.
