While reporting on Tuesday?s multiple stabbings from outside the Medical Center, a van belonging to Channel 7 News was burglarized by a man who was chased by the news crew and some residents police said.
A Channel 7 employee told cops that about 2 p.m., he saw a man leaning into the van through a smashed window and when he yelled ?Hey!? he took off, reports said.
Carrying various small electronics devices, the man tried to get to a Honda Civic that was parked on Jersey Avenue at Grand Street with the motor running, reports said. A Channel 7 employee caught up to the man, and after a brief scuffle, the burglar kept running, reports said.
Several others joined the chase and a witness caught up to the thief at Monmouth and Grand streets where they both fell and the burglar dropped the items he?s stolen and ran away, reports said.
The abandoned Civic had been reported stolen in Jersey City and police said there was visible damage to its steering column, reports said.
