I have not found this listed anywhere but I'd swear the "White Castle"... is the one on Blvd and Newark ave.

Both the interior (yea, I remember it back when) and the exterior.

Wrong it's Brooklyn:

Sid&Nancy, Great flick, and yes your right, the last 2 minutes of the movie's background is filled with what the DTJC waterfront use to look like before the developers got their hands on it.

Great movie and great shot of DTJC back in the day before rents sky rocketed up 1000%.BTW the powerhouse never changed.

I saw that movie well just the scene with Maria Conchita where she is naked..

the restaurant scene on ghost dog was shot on the chinese restaurant on westside and duncan (the one in front of mac's video). I think it's called No. 1 chinese food or something like that.

Although these are listed, here are some details.

The final chase scene of Toxic Avenger... quick and interesting view of Downtown on Columbus before the build up.

Wise Guys: Harsimus Cemetery, the small diner and auto body place that were near Mary Bensen Park and the firehouse on Newark Avenue.

Quiz Show: Inside the old Jersey City Medical Center... old teaching building I think... gave the scenes a cool art deco look.

West Side Ave from the cemetery South to a Chinese takeout place with a parking lot next to it. I lived down in that area years back when they filmed it.

Other movies / videos filmed (apologies if listed already):

Jacobs Ladder (boxing gym / pool hall scene)
George Thorogood's 'Bad to the Bone' video.

Right... Cascades, not Rockies.
My bad.

As for IMDb, you can update most information yourself... I think.

As far as the Deer Hunter is concerned, it was supposed to be "set" in Western PA, but there are two glaring issues with that:

I love that movie, but those little details always bugged me...

Most of the movie was filmed in West Virginia and Ohio about an hour outside of Pittsburgh. I know a bunch of people who worked on it. The hunting scenes were filmed Washington's Cascade Mountains. Not sure why.

Back to topic at hand, I'm surprised a few of the movies mentioned here aren't on the Jersey City-IMDB page.

Parker Posey and Liev Schreiber were in a movie called Party Girl that has scenes filmed in Jersey City's Main Library at 472 Jersey Avenue. IMDB has the release date as June 9, 1995.

I re-read my post and it sounds patronizing to your efforts and work. Sorry. I think the spots are great. They just seemed more "raw" than those overly polished prime time commercials and of course more "dirty", LOL. But I appreciate that is where the style for commercials is going and they really make the point!

Definitely NOT a "contest commercial." These were commissioned by Trojan for a new campaign. Due to their "provocative" nature, spots are broadcast on Hulu and late night on Comedy Central.

As for permits - we tried... and tried. The locations manager was drowning in red tape. JC did everything they could to make shooting here a miserable affair.

Here are two Trojan Condom? commercials shot in Downtown JC. One is at Laundry City on C. Columbus, the other is in Walker's Apothecary on Mercer (interior only).

After dealing with every open-handed bureaucrat in JC to get permits, I'm surprised ANYTHING is filmed here...

Not in that list, but I remember Above the Rim (Tupac, Marlon Wayans, Bernie Mac) had a funeral scene shot at the graveyard across the street from Dickinson. I know this specifically because half the school cut that afternoon to get a look at 2pac.

Sid&Nancy, Great flick, and yes your right, the last 2 minutes of the movie's background is filled with what the DTJC waterfront use to look like before the developers got their hands on it.

Yea back in the days when you could see Manhattan from pretty much anywhere in JC, IMHO it was way cooler back then :)

(WM thanks for fixing the link in my above post)

If you click on the link the list will come up. You can then click on the movie/show. Then in the left hand column go down to Other Info and click on filming locations a list of places will pop up. (some have good descriptions, most just bring you back to where you were..bummer)

For example ..Under ?.A Bronx Tale?

Jersey City, New Jersey, USA
(the boxing match scene is filmed at the armory in jersey city)

Great site ?Go JC!!!!
