Monoco was booked up but they referred me to Gladstone Lock. Guy came next day - excellent job, super-professional and reasonably priced to boot. Just what I was looking for.

Richie Catanio on Grove is just the best. He knows his stuff and he's a great guy to boot. Had him do all of my locks when I moved. And he's COMPLETELY trustworthy.

SW Lock in N bergen. Simply the best. Monaco told me a handset that was always open from one side but could be change on the other didn't exist. SW said "yeah, that's called a classroom lock" and ordered it for me. My tenant broke off a key in a deadbolt, I brought the cylinder to them, he fixed it gratis.

I've got other stories. Simply the best.

Catanio Lock Co on Grove Street and Monaco Lock Co on Newark Avenue are both very reputable and do quality work. They are "old school" master locksmiths.

I used them both when I was in the construction compliance business and recommend them highly.

I've used Monaco a couple of times, and gone there for counter sales on DIY work many more. Lets just say I'd MUCH rather go to SW Lock up on JFK at 37th St in Union city for either. They're much more helpful and knowledgeable at the counter than at Monaco, which seems to have the old fashioned contempt for non-contractors that built Home Depot.

I needed a special type of door lock for a building. Monaco's counterman told me it didn't exist, SW ordered it for me, and showed me how to install it. When it developed some problems the next year, I took it to them, the guy messed with it for 45 minutes, and didn't charge me a thing.

Monaco Lock on Newark Ave - quality work as well. They insalled all of our locks (Medeco) on the metal doors. Job well done.

I have used Monaco lock on Newark Ave near Monmouth. They seemed professional and knowledgeable to me.
