The JJ had an info box with these prices: Adult Member: $20 Non-Member : $25 Youth Member: $18 Non-Member: $22 I will check it out but if those are the prices it is kind of dear for the people of JC.

I drove by the location last night. The place is indeed ready to go. i hear they are opening on Dec. 6th. I dunno where you got you pricing info, but if they price it the same as they have as all their other locations it will be the following: Youth (48" and taller) Members: $13.95 Non-members: $16.95 Adults: (56" and taller) Members: $14.95 Non-members: $19.95 There are a few different levels of membership. $37.95 Annual Membership - Two standard races - One standard race anytime during the month of your birthday - One Pole Position Raceway t-shirt - Race discounts $47.95 Annual Membership - Three standard races - One standard race anytime during the month of your birthday - One Pole Position Raceway t-shirt - Race discounts $59.95 Annual Membership - Four standard races - One standard race anytime during the month of your birthday - One Pole Position Raceway t-shirt - Race discounts $100 VIP Membership - Four standard races - One standard race anytime during the month of your birthday - One Pole Position Raceway t-shirt - Race discounts - Priority list during busy times Seems like a much better deal than what V17 is offering, plus it looks like a decent space. Assuming they can get people in the doors and racing it should be a great place. I know I'll be there.

Maybe they meant to say, construction will BEGIN in a few weeks? It is in a large old converted warehouse and ready to go, go ,go. Quote: BadCircles wrote: I'm curious what exactly about go kart racing screams "yuppies/hipsters" Well I think the maybe couple of thousand JC yuppies/hipsters can afford to play at the $25 adult and $22 children per race price tag but the other 234,000 natives not so much. Maybe the Manhattanites that use the National Golf Course will walk over to the Kart Races for a spin. The kart racers must be faster then the golf carts, but the majority of the JC population will never know. Maybe Brett?s idea to open a water park in LSP would have better served the people of JC. (a scary but fair thought) Hey maybe someone will bring back the JC slot car racer place that was across the street from the old Court House on Newark Ave. Now that was fun!

Indoors kart racing will begin offering zippy fun for all ages next month at Caven Point in Jersey City
Saturday, November 27, 2010 You can take the Grand Prix racing out of Jersey City, but you can't take Jersey City out of the racing business. Over the summer a plan to bring a Grand Prix race to Liberty State Park was met with overwhelming resistance. Now kart racing is coming to the city. The business, with two quarter-mile tracks, will open at 99 Caven Point Road next month, and is owned by Karen and Eyal Farage of Manhattan. Pole Position Raceway has five other locations - Corona and Murrieta in California, Las Vegas and Summerlin in Nevada, and Oklahoma City, Okla., all owned by the company, which was founded in 2005. The 80,000-square foot facility will feature all-electric, emission-free indoor karts that are capable of reaching speeds of 45 miles an hours. It will give people an opportunity to experience authentic side-by-side racing action with up to 10 drivers per track. There will be adult karts for racers at least 56 inches tall, as well as junior karts for kids who are at least 48 inches tall. Pole Position Raceway is the "most authentic experience in the nation," Farage said. "It is built for racers by racers. The people who started the company were successful car racers. We have a European style of track - with plenty of turns and straightaways, like a Grand Prix track." There are things to keep visitors busy when they're not racing, including "high-end arcade games, for children and adults and video screens for sports programming," said Karen Farage, who called Pole Position Raceway the start of her and her husband's second careers. Karen Farage said she lost her job in the software industry 18 months ago and Eyal's business as a contractor slowed dramatically when the economy got worse. Racing will be available to the general public on a walk-in basis and also is available to groups for parties or corporate events. RON ZEITLINGER

This will be huge - the next closest track of this caliber for cart racing is in bumble-f PA.
For gear-heads/racing gurus this is a dream come true.
