FYI I live right at this corner I had just gotten home from a party about 10-15 minutes earlier and did not see anyone on the streets so I was shocked to read about this the next day

My first call to the police was at 12:06am. At about 12:15, I heard a lot of sirens and saw some people running from the police on Lafayette Street.

This article is ridiculous and reduces the incident to a minor scuffle when it appeared to be much more than that. This was a fight with about 10-15 people. We were driving down Communipaw and made a quick right to avoid the fight (which was in the middle of the road) at the corner of Communipaw and Halliday. I called the cops three times and got no answer. Makes me very concerned with all of the talk about cutting our police force.

Jersey City man stabbed near Liberty State Park after wordless fight

Monday, November 08, 2010

A 29-year-old Jersey City man was stabbed in the shoulder near Liberty State Park early Saturday morning, according to a police report.

The man told police he was on his way to the light rail at about 12:15 a.m. when two men he didn't know came up to him, reports said.

"No words were exchanged," reports said, but the men "started to fist fight."

After the victim struck one of the men in the face, the other man stabbed the victim in the shoulder, reports said.

The victim was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was treated for "non life threatening" injuries.
