Hi yes. this event did take place. The time was at 3:00. I was there with my dog from 2:30 on.

The service was only about 45 minutes or so.

Lots of dogs. 1 cat. and a turtle.

I would say we had about 30-40 folks bring their pets.

I went with my dogs and the church was locked up tight. I also went to the recreation room and they had no idea what I was talking about.

Did this happen today? Please do it again so I can bring my dogs.

The St. Francis Service with the Blessing of the Animals is on Sunday (10/3/10) at 3pm. Bring your pets to church! The tradition, which is celebrated around the Oct. 4 feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, is tied to his love of animals. To commemorate the day ? and, perhaps, have some fun ? churches invite pets, furry, feathered or scaly, to be blessed. The church is located on 39 Erie street on the corner of Second Street.
