hopefully most of us realize how fortunate we are to have passionate neighbors to push us forward and see the possibilities - Nisha Moodley, jc food coop and art house. there is more on the horizon, access to fresh, healthy and affordable food, urban (and vertical) farming - the three R's - reduce, reuse, recycle, no more plastic bags, green education and green industries ..... this can and should be our future.

JC Food Coop & Art House Productions will be hosting a screening and discussion of FRESH the movie next Tuesday the 13th at 7pm. FRESH celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who are re-inventing our food system. Each has witnessed the rapid transformation of our agriculture into an industrial model, and confronted the consequences: food contamination, environmental pollution, depletion of natural resources, and morbid obesity. Forging healthier, sustainable alternatives, they offer a practical vision for a future of our food and our planet. Among several main characters, FRESH features urban farmer and activist, Will Allen, the recipient of MacArthur?s 2008 Genius Award; sustainable farmer and entrepreneur, Joel Salatin, made famous by Michael Pollan?s book, The Omnivore?s Dilemma; and supermarket owner, David Ball, challenging our Wal-Mart dominated economy. $5 Suggested Donation Light Refreshments will be served. Tuesday, July 13th 7pm Art House Productions Hamilton Square 1 McWilliams Place, 6th Floor (SE Corner of Hamilton Park, near Erie/8th St) www.arthouseproductions.org www.jcfoodcoop.com
