Jersey City is dynamic enough to look like any part of New York outside of lots of Manhattan (including all parts of BKlyn). Name a Brooklyn hood, I can give you a block to film on in Jersey City. That said, who needs it to look like Brooklyn? We need it to look like Jersey. There's a trickle of TV about Brooklyn. There's a flood (for better or worse) about Jersey.

Does anyone know which bar they used for the interior bar scenes? Delaneys I think they called it. I know Lucky 7's was the exterior.

Yes Mercy is gone - my friend that worked on the production team told me- so sad. We really thought that it would make it for another season. While the writing and acting were not 'the best' - I found it to be pretty darn good. Again, if it were not for my friend - and the fact that it was filmed here - I would not have even given it a shot. 8pm on a Wednesday - another medical drama - BUT - I watched them all and found them to be very entertaining. Kinda like a nice soap opera type show - I enjoyed it, but the ratings were not there. Of course my friend is bummed - but I think she can land another gig soon.

That show absolutely sucked. It was painful to watch. I watched it because I like my hood. That's it. I wouldn't have given it more than 2 minutes otherwise.

Mercy is just unique that it's -set- in JC. But that's not why the show sucked. Everything about it sucked. I couldn't even sit through it in fast forward to catch scenes of JC, it was so boring. And it was so obviously written by LA people who had never even been to JC, which generally makes for a bad show. Still I see no reason why people are going to stop shooting in JC.

MF is very popular, and they could have known, by the already poor ratings, that they weren't going to renew Mercy, so why not just let it ride out against MF as they come up with a game plan for next season. But after the Leno debacle, who am I to argue...... I will miss location spotting on Mercy. Hopefully location scouts have realized that JC is a viable option for future shoots.

That really sucks, but you can blame the genius programming director at NBC who thought moving it from 8pm to 9pm was a smart move. Putting it up against Modern Family was the stupidest move EVER!

I walked down there last night. The actual filming was happening on that little triangle of refurbished streetscape right in front of Pino's. They set up bar tables and a "coffee" truck there, as if it was a little coffee cafe int he square. It looked pretty nice, actually. They lit up the buildings around that intersection of Coles & Newark. A craft services food table was set up on Coles in front of the Bathhouse. Coles was used for their trucks and gear mostly. Don't thing they filmed on Coles.

I thought the street fair they created in the St. Patrick's Day episode looked amazing - the real Newark Avenue has never looked so good. And they shot the final scene of that episode in LITM, which definitely doesn't represent JC's seedy underbelly.

I still maintain that this show is purposefully not filming on any nice blocks in JC. They seem to always choose the sh*ttiest-looking areas.

They tried to stop me from going home tonight at around 8. I live right by first street/coles. I know I should be happy that something like this is going on in the 'hood, but when a yappy young girl jumps in front of me on the sidewalk at the end of a long day and tells me I'm not allowed to go home, I'm not going to be kind to her.

They are filming people's basements flooded with a mixture of storm water and sewage. Afterwards they are going to have some kids from Ferris High throwing trash and pizza plates all over the street and sidewalks.

Today & tonight,they are filming on Coles St., between Newark & Columbus. Gonna take a peek when I get home after work as it's just down the street from me.

I have seen them filming on weekdays too. Maybe 1stguy meant the outdoor shots at the school?
My wife and I like the show. After 2 episodes where we say "it's not that bad," they'll be a really poorly episode that we just roll our eyes at. It's not something we would have started watching if it wasn't filmed here. We enjoy trying to guess where the locations are.

Lost in all of this is that most of the filming in JC is actually taking place outside of a public school (#5), during the day, causing interruption and disruption to the lives of the children and parents of that school. Not only that, crew members and other folks associated with show, roam the inside of the school as if they have business there as well. There is no extra security as a result and not everyone is happy with this arrangement.
JC and the BOE, I am sure are getting paid handsomely for this, but I'd like to know where the money is going. Sterling Waterman
