The upper roadway for Rte 139 is not really a highway - its more of a road. Stopping on the corner would not be unreasonable.

I live about 50 feet from this corner and this intersection is basically where I park my car everyday. There is a huge amount of space to pull over and clean out the back seat of your car if she was in the area Im thinking.

This is scary stuff.

This is a very strange happening. I am of course glad she is fine?.but?

- Stopping on a highway at 1:45 a.m. to fix a back seat?
- What happened to the friend she was going to pickup?
- Calls a friend for a ride home instead of the police?

I am pretty sure that Exxon station is the one where an old timer was robbed of a payroll last year. He stopped for gas and was robbed. I can?t remember if he was killed deliberately or fell and hit his head and died. They captured the get away car on camera. Maybe they can get something off of the camera for this odd happening.

Thankfully this lowlife let her go without harming her...

Carjacker leaves woman on road in her underwear

A Newark woman was stranded at the Kearny/Jersey City border in her underwear yesterday morning after her vehicle was carjacked in Jersey City and she was robbed and forced to strip, officials said.

The 23-year-old victim said that at 1:45 a.m. she was at Summit Avenue and Route 139 making room in the back seat of her car for a friend she was picking up when a masked man pushed her into the vehicle, reports said.

The carjacker slammed the door, jumped into the driver's seat and told her to lay on the floor as he drove away, reports said.

The woman begged the man to take what he wanted and let her go, but he repeatedly forced her to the floor as he spoke on his cell phone, reports said.

After driving 15 minutes he told her to take off her jewelry and her clothing except for her underwear. He then kicked her out into the cold weather on Route 1&9 near the Hudson County jail, reports said.

An attendant at a nearby Exxon gas station gave the woman a T-shirt to wear and she got a ride to a friend's home in Newark, where she called the authorities, and police and an ambulance responded, reports said.
