we're on fairmount between west side and jfk. we really dig it. we have a driveway, but i know if you don't street parking can be a bit of a hassle at night.

our schedules are such that we're generally out between 7am and 11pm, and the neighborhood is fine then. i walk the dog down west side to lincoln park all the time and have done so without incident so far (and so has my wife). as far as what goes on at 3am, i really don't have any experience. so far (we've been here for ten months) we have not had any problems at all with our selves, our cars or our property.

there's good pizza, good gyros and a good deli/smoothie place on west side within a couple of blocks of there.

It's a pretty decent block if you ask me :). I live on fairview and have had few problems here. As far as flooding goes,
I have had my basement flood with about a half an inch of water from time to time, but it's something that could be alleviated if there was a sump pump installed. You are on the top of a hill if you are near jfk as opposed to westside ave, but because the sewer and storm drains are connected, when it downpours, you can get some backup.

I'm looking at a basement condo on Fairview Ave near JFK Blvd and would like to know if it is safe area of JC (I know everything is relative) and whether it is known for flooding? Any info would be appreciated.
