Police recovered two paint ball guns, 67 orange paint balls

"That's a lot of orange ammunition," said one policeman, "but at least it wasn't a violet crime."

3 arrested for paint ball pranks

Three pranksters were arrested Saturday night after menacing Downtown Jersey City residents by firing paint balls at them, police reports said.

Joseline A. Saez, 21, of Beacon Avenue in Jersey City, and Jeremy Rosario, 18, of South Park Street in Elizabeth, were charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, reports said.

A 17-year-old girl, also of South Park Street in Elizabeth, was also arrested and taken to the Juvenile Bureau but it wasn't clear what charges she faced.

No injuries were reported.

At around 11:30 p.m., police received reports that people in a black Volkswagen Passat were driving around Downtown shooting at pedestrians and homes with paint balls, reports said.

As cops traveled east on Grand Street they spotted a black Passat coming toward them and pulled it over at Ivy Place.

As officers approached the car they saw a paint ball gun loaded with several paint balls lying on the floor in front of the rear passenger seat.

The 17-year-old teenager blurted out, "All of us took turns shooting it, I am sorry," reports said.

Police recovered two paint ball guns, 67 orange paint balls and four carbon dioxide containers used for charging the gun from the car.

Police met with the owner of Guillo's Bar at Coles and 6th Street, which was hit by three paint balls, and the owner of a Dodge Durango parked near the bar that was also struck by a paint ball. Neither men pursued the matter.
