I have to also chime in with compliments, this place is great. So far I've been there twice for their Grab n' go dinners and it was just absolutely delicious. Obviously a lot of love and passion goes into their dinners & baked goods. I'll probably be back on Friday for their yummy veggie lasagna again....

Although I have no money to actually go to Made With Love or anywhere else, I have to say that I am really impressed with the biz smarts of the owner(s). Jazz, kids parties, cooking classes, and now these homestyle take-outs are all great ideas which seem like they will make the place a long-term success. It's about time somebody is giving people what they want and not what the biz owner thinks is cool or fun.
Good Luck to you! You're a great addition to JC.

Monday Night! We have recently opened our shop on Mondays, and so that means a new Grab-n-Go dinner night. Tonite is football night for a lot of people, so we decided to do Chili. We will have both Vegetarian Quinoa-Black Bean Chili, and also an Organic Grass fed Beef Chili. For the side we made Jalapeno-Corn Muffins. It starts at 5pm and is still all $8.99/lb, and that goes a long way tonite, so stop by even if your not a sports fan, the chili is great for sitting in your favorite park during these last days of mild weather. Don't forget dessert, you can actually taste Fall in the pumpkin pie, it's amazing.

went to last night's monthly communal dinner and was pretty blown away. last night's dinner was even better than last month's. celeste started us with these delicious, flaky cheese biscuits, followed by a tomato-y seafood stew whose fancy name i can't recall, then spinach salad with pomegranate seeds and mandarin oranges, then dessert....i chose the chocolate gateau. yum.
but just as good as the food (and the live jazz) was the warm, fuzzy feeling the evening gave me about jersey city. go ahead, cynical JC listers: laugh if you must. but celeste is doing an amazing job making her little corner of downtown JC a vibrant, happening, tasty destination.

Heights wants to know, how much does an average plate of chicken and 2 sides come out to?

got the roasted chicken last night for me and my wife. came to $23 including a brownie and another pastry type dessert. and celeste even threw in a large piece of olive bread.

more than enough food for the both of us, including some chicken for the dog. and it was really good homemade food.

compare that to cooking the same thing for yourself. maybe you could save a couple bucks, but factor in not having to cook, probably not cooking as well, and not having to clean up pots and pans. cant do much better than that.

The veggie chili, cornbread, mac n' cheese sounds amazing. I'm not a football fan but I'd come in for that.

Celeste, I was in for brunch on Sunday and had the farmer's breakfast. It was great-- eggs, hash browns with onion in them, sauteed spinach, and homemade bread. It tasted like I had made the breakfast, if I were a great cook. Very homemade and yummy.

Had the chicken last night! My husband & I were lucky enough to get the last two Grab n Go dinners - we stopped by around 7:30 on our way home from a run. It was excellent! Also, loved the carrots & mashed potatoes. The hubby didn't even use any hot sauce on the chicken & for him that is saying something. I'm glad we have this option for dinner now - I can't wait to try the meatloaf!

I think it's $8.99 / lb.

I had $6.00 worth of their lasagna with salad two Fridays ago and it was plenty for me.

How much is it per a pound. I am interested in the roast chicken if the price is right.

did i read it right that they have a set take home menu weds-fri.

I'm sick and the chicken and potatoes sounds great for tomorrow but not for $20 bucks.

I am not saying it's not good.. i have no idea if it is.. i need to be really financially responsible especially right now b/c of personal reasons... but grilled cheese and soup is getting old. some real food would be good and the husband doesn't cook.

Went tonight for the Meatloaf grab and go dinner. It was really delicious! In addition to the meatloaf, we also got mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach, for a total of $16 for two people. I'm so happy Celeste is doing this, I've been missing this kind of food since Harvest Cart closed.

it was $30/person, which i thought was very fair, considering she served grass-fed beef as the main course and that everything else was so fresh and tasty. the live jazz was great, too.

the food was plenty for me, especially since she served a big basket of fresh bread with the meal. we didn't pay by the pound. the food was served to us on plates, restaurant style. yes, we did bring our own bottle of wine.

How many dined with you for the $30 spent ?
Was the amount of food ample ?
Did you pay for the meal by the pound ?
Did you bring your own bottle of wine ?

From tomorrow's NJ section

April 5, 2009
Quick Bite | Jersey City
Baked by Hand, With Heart
By Jersey City
At Made With Love, a cozy bakery and cafe in downtown Jersey City, Celeste Governanti, the owner, makes soups from scratch and specials like Spanish potato tortilla from Thursday through Sunday. The bulk of her business, though, is baking: organic cakes, scones, pies and tarts, muffins and tea breads, cookies and colorful cupcakes.

?Ninety-nine percent of my ingredients are organic,? said Ms. Governanti, who studied artisanal breadmaking at the French Culinary Institute eight years ago while she worked as a fashion executive. ?We do as much as we can by hand.?

Before opening the cafe in December, Ms. Governanti sold her baked goods at various farmers? markets, including at Van Vorst Park in Jersey City, where she gained a loyal clientele that has followed her to her new location. The cafe has seven tables and warm accents like a tin ceiling, as well as a marble counter where pastries are artfully arranged. In the airy kitchen, Ms. Governanti also gives baking and cooking classes, including for children?s parties; she also caters.

At breakfast, there are muffins, granola served with milk or yogurt and crumbly scones (all $3.50). In the afternoon, you can sip a cup of tea ($1.50) and enjoy a miniature apple almond tart made with tender apples and almond butter ($5).

The best time to visit may be on Saturday evenings, when there?s live music ? jazz, rhythm and blues and tango ? and when Ms. Governanti serves rustic mini pizzas, empanadas and the like. If you can?t make it on Saturday, savory goodies are available Thursday through Sunday.

Made with Love Artisan Bakery and Cafe, 530 Jersey Avenue, Jersey City; (201) 850-3260. Open Tuesday and Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. madewithloveorganics.com

I stopped by at this bakery for the first time today in my way back home... super charming place and very very tempting, it is almost torturing! Everything looked delicious, fresh, high quality. I asked for the fruit tarts, they said they would be available in the mornings, so I plan to be there tomorrow bright and early and check out the selection.

I'll eat the goodies with the same love they have made them...

My husband and I have seen the owner hustle at every farmer's market, street fair, bake sale, you name it....for awhile now.

It is awesome to see her in her own space and we are taking the Valentine's Day cooking class.

I really like this place. I hope they will soon be able to sustain evening hours all week. This would be a great place to catch a savory or sweet after dinner snack and coffee. Right now I only get there on Saturdays.
