People should be forced to pay for something they don't use?

I didn't think Daggett did that well this evening. His tax plan is dubious. While he maintains he'll reduce taxes it seems he is basically just increasing them by taxing other services etc. One thing that impressed me, was how many times he used the word "hope" when asked about a public option for health care. I'm sorry Chris but Hope Is Not a Strategy. I think Daggett looks weak. He's not getting my vote. I just don't think he has the strategic capability for the job.

Christie didn't have as much substance as I thought he would have. While I'm not a fan, I tend to think he's smart and thought he would have laid out more details which he failed to do. He relied to heavily on the dire state of the economy to undermine Corzine. He also misrepresented some key facts, including unemployment numbers and something else which I now forget. It also seemed he sort of argued against himself when he maintained that he would cut spending and reduce the state payroll, but he will increase employment numbers by cutting the corporate tax rate. So he's basically expecting corporations to hire more people, but not the state of NJ, while he refuses stimulus money. I think that ultimately demonstrated he lacks a crystalized plan, which again concerns me. Christie starting to answer questions by talking about what Corzine does or did wrong was uninspiring as far as I was concerned. If he had a unique and viable strategy he could have fleshed that out, but he didn't.

Corzine seemed to be most able do navigate a challenging economic downturn while balancing a historically mismanaged budget and government. Corzine's answers, at least IMHO were more realistic, precise and strategic. During this extraordinarily challenging time, I am inclined to stick with Corzine. I think amongst the candidates Corzine is most demonstrated the ability to navigate a uniquely challenging economy in a challenged state.

You mean I happened to correctly comprehend his post whereas you did not. If it makes me condescending for pointing that out to you, too, so be it. Surely the subtly will not be lost on you this time.

Anyone watching the debate? Daggett looks quasi-viable in his own right. Compared to the other two, he looks downright gubernatorial.

Christie should be flattered when compared to Bush. Bush wasn't big on ideas or vision, but Christie has none. Period.

I'm sticking with my party line and going to vote for Corzine. I can't imagine voting for Christie.

Corzine has closed the gap on Christie in the polls. My thoughts are Daggett probably can't win at this juncture, and casting your vote for him, will just serve to give Christie the advantage.

You are a moron if you vote for Corzine. I didn't think it was possible, but he has left New Jersey in worse shape then it was in . Higest property taxes in the country, largest state goverment in the country per capita, and highest paid state employees. But New Jersey will re-elect him.

Best case scenario Daggett can hope for is what? 5% of the vote?

He'll be lucky to crack 2%, and that's only because he is appearing in the debate, which he is likely appearing in only because one of the other candidates perceives it as advantageous to have him there.

Instead of being so quick to hit the reply button, if you spent a little more effort to read what was clearly written, you would have gotten the inference that there was only one logical conclusion to be made what was written. It's only clearer to you now because you made it incumbent of me to spell it out to you. That would explain why I'm "testy". Okay?

And the point is.... Christie is NOT the INCUMBENTcandidate (this time with extra-extra emphasis). The person I was replying to commented that Daggett was not smart enough to align himself with the Democratic party. Furthermore, as an Independent party candidate, Daggett avoided having to compete in either primary.

NOT competing with an INCUMBENTcandidate in a primary election is without question a smart move. Whether running as an independent is smart, that's definitely up for discussion.

Are we on the same page now?

Actually, you were the one who said he was a republican. If he is in fact pro-choice and pro-gay rights, then he is an idiot to be a republican party member, since those values are incompatible with the party's platform. My response was not that Daggett was not smart enough align himself with the Democratic party. There are many other parties that actually conform to pro-choice, pro-gray rights values that are not the Democratic party. Many of of those parties are as viable or more viable than an independent candidate for governor.

Christie was a Bush lackey who was in bed with Karl Rove and gave John Ashcroft a no-bid contact for legal work. No REAL Democrat can possibly vote for him.

I don't know who I'm voting for yet but it's def not anti-choice, anti-gay rights Christie. I'm considering third party candidates this year.

Hmm, I don't know, it sounds like Daggett was too stupid to register for the right party.

Yeah, it would have been much wiser for him to run against the INCUMBENT Governor in the primary election. (And Yes - for the not-so-sharp-witted, I am being sarcastic.)

New Jersey has a long history of socially liberal republicans..Whittman, Kean , Case ect ect.. but why must we put labels on people. I feel that Chris Daggett will be a better governor than Corzine or Christie, that is why I'm voting for him.

The first gubenatorial debate is tonight ...Independent candidate Chris Daggett is included. He'll be the one talking about the issues not his opponents driving records.

It looks like the sizzle is out of the steak of the Hudson County Dems for Christie effort. Am I wrong?
